Tired of dull, boring sermons with no theological depth? Then our next KST+ day is the solution! “Igniting the Heart: Preaching and Imagination”. facilitated by the Rev. Dr Kate Bruce. Here is what others have said about Kate’s work:

“expect to be enriched, challenged, encouraged and inspired” Revd Ruth Gee.

“Kate Bruce draws on her considerable experience as a school teacher, parish priest, theological college tutor and stand-up comic … to show us how the imagination can disclose new worlds, turn our assumptions upside down, provoke us to ask “what if?” and help us live in the minds of other people. In this, she follows “the example of Jesus who did not despise the parable, the haunting image, or the disturbing paradox” David Day.

This day is for those who would like to see their sermons “dance and sing” rather than “trudge, hobble and plod” and help others to do the same.

About the Tutor

Kate teaches preaching at conferences and day events around the country and recently delivered a summer school for Vancouver School of Theology, with a comedy night as part of the event. She founded the Durham Preaching School, for younger preachers in 2015. She is interested in writing and performing stand-up comedy and intends to write on the theme of laughter, once the other side of RAF basic training. She suspects this will provide ample material.
